Make Something Beautiful

You are a miracle, just as you are, just as you are.

You are a child of God, just as you are, just as you are.

God has done great things for us and prepared a place for you.

So, with the time we have left do something beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

I’ve just returned from my most recent road trip. It was a journey of 800 miles more or less and took me through some fairly desolate Western geography where likely my angel was co-pilot as I experienced no mechanical or driving problems throughout the adventure. Without wonderous landscapes and natural markers to distract me, I was able to see something awesome, repeatedly. A variety of artists were fortunately scattered on my way and making something beautiful.  People have remarkable creativity. I cannot say whether this art came from a human response to return some of the beauty God has given us. It pleases me to think so.

Down the Rabbit Hole

Each day on the trail
I pick up the trash.
  Restore order small scale
Clear debris with panache
Flush cottontail and quail.
That’s not a newsflash.

Discovery of the proverbial white rabbit, however, certainly is unusual. Like Lewis Carroll’s famous creature, I found myself fretting “Oh dear, Oh dear, I shall be too late.”  In this case, I feared I would be too late to save the poor little thing, obviously, a pet, escaped or abandoned, from our Arizona elements. With summer heat at its most intense, usually 105+ and that snow white coat, I figured its odds of survival at near zero. How to help it? I feared without intervention, it would not last a day.
